Planninn vs Google Calendar

For many families Google Calendar is the starting point: free, on every phone and reliable. But it's designed for individual calendars, not for running a whole household. Here's an honest comparison (checked July 2026).

Where Google Calendar is strong

Free, everywhere, and deeply integrated with Gmail and Android. Invites, reminders and time zones just work. For your own appointments it's excellent — and thanks to iCal you can import a Google calendar straight into Planninn.

Where Planninn wins

Planninn is built around the family, not the individual: one shared calendar with a colour per member, tasks you assign and a shared grocery list in the same app. Import schedules via iCal, your data stays in the EU, and for clubs there's team planning.

Who is each for?

Mostly managing your own appointments? Google Calendar is fine. Want the whole family — events, tasks and groceries — in one place without three apps, Planninn is built for that.
